Title Screen Characters: WHO ARE THEY?!

I know I'm going to get people asking about this so I'm writing about them here. WHO ARE THE CHARACTERS ON THE TITLE SCREEN?!?!? While I haven't introduced all of them in the Prologue, All five characters WILL appear in the game eventually. So I thought it would be a good idea to write about each one, who they are, what they're gonna be like, and even where I got them from.

TOP LEFT: Bishop, The Blind One. Rather unusual name, the word "Bishop" is more-so a title.  It was actually not too long ago as of writing this that I decided to make him blind. This decision will definitely change how he will play out in the story. I got his design from, and I kid you not, a door. I have attached the source image to show you, with the white outline being what I saw from it. Compared to the cover art (also attached), the head has definitely been squished and modified to be a little bit "childish". This choice was unintentional, and I'm just too lazy to fix it. And looking at him compared to all the other characters, it kind of fits better.

MIDDLE: Vivi. No extra title for her. If you couldn't tell, she will be the main character of the entire game, where she will explore a new world in the hopes to remember who she really was (See the last character.). The origins of her design is odd. I used to work as a stocker at a gas station, and the easiest way we stocked the drinks was to write down what's missing and grab them. One day, I got bored and during free time and grabbed the notepad. I just recently watched the pilot episode for Hazbin Hotel.  For those who have not seen it, there is one character who's mostly for jokes, a p***star Spider named Angel Dust. His design is rather interesting, and I wanted to draw it. After the first line, I immediately knew I failed the drawing, and went with it. The result has unfortunately been thrown away, but I do have the second drawing of her, which I have attached. (warning, it's a little provocative, view at your own risk.) Her name was originally "Vivian" and she would be selling... something, I never got that far as to what. If you also look at the concept, you'll notice another character, "Avian", who would eventually evolve to become....

BOTTOM LEFT: "Elucid", The Mysterious One. If you look closely, you'll notice that her face is actually a mask, but the real face is being shadowed by the mask. As to not spoil my plans for her (aka, I haven't decided yet), I will not reveal what she truly is. But I will give you a hint. Check the bottom side of the mask. As mentioned in the previous paragraph, she was originally called "Avian." The concept was she was going to be "ditsy," and just follow whatever Vivian was doing, even if it would lead to some "highly questionable" actions (as pictured also in the concept art). Luckily for me and you, this idea was scrapped, and the character re-worked into what she is now.

BOTTOM RIGHT: Oscar, The Experimented One. You'll notice his arms and hands look like they're wearing gloves. It's actually going to be a gel-like substance, and will function kind of like the Venom Symbiote from Spider-Man, just without the whole "hive mind", or a mind in general. The gel was actually going to be a whole other villain, but I've since decided to scrap that idea. His origin of creation is the most boring of them all. I was just messing around and thought to draw myself as a demon. So I did. The main differences between the original drawing and the one seen on the cover art is: There isn't a marking on the chest where it would be implied that's how I died, and he doesn't have the demon tail in the cover art.

TOP RIGHT: Corpse Doll, The One Who Rots. You'll notice there are strings on his hands, around his feet, and around his neck. his smile is somewhat influenced by Bendy's uncanny big smile. The context of this character is actually very dark, so if you do not want to read it, please move on to the next paragraph. Shortly before his creation, I got into a giant state of depression, the context of which I will not explain, and I started doodling a cartoon depiction of me getting murmured, tortured, and mutilated in many, many ways. Some ways include getting impaled by sharp rocks, and being hung. Being hung was the easiest to draw due to simplicity, but it was also influenced by the idea of the Tails Doll. The Tails Doll, for those unaware, is a character from the Sonic series who has made only one actual game appearance, in Sonic R. A very unique choice, considering the rest of the hero variants had robots as their counterparts (ie, Metal Sonic and Metal Knuckles). People found this character very unsettling, how it just floats around, kind of looking like it was hung. This unsettling feeling is only exemplified when it shows the character's victory screen for beating the game, just the doll staring at the player in a dark, empty room, the floor being made of a red and grey checkerboard pattern, and the polygonal design added that little bit creepiness to it. (remember, this game came out in 1997, a year before the Dreamcast released and showed the world what the 4th generation of consoles were capable of with Sonic Adventure.) There are (bad) creepypasta stories of the character, but I'm going to pretend they don't exist, but some drawings come with the depiction of the doll with long, sharp fingers, and others of it being held back with strings, like those of a puppet. In case you are wondering, I am fine now, and now I have a character with very evil intentions.

You might also ask: "Ok, but what about that evil grin in the background behind Vivi? What's that?" Glad you asked, it's the grin of...

TOP MIDDLE (smile): Veribosa The Demoness. The lore has changed details but the gist of it is this. Veribosa caused destruction, and a lot of it (how much I'm still deciding). After being caught and stopped, her punishment was eternity in The Abys. She would also get semi-frequent checks, though those were mainly to make sure she hasn't escaped. Eventually, the people running these checks did them less and less often, and eventually forgot about them, leaving her alone in The Abys. I should also explain how The Abys works. Have you ever lost something between the couch cushions or just misplaced something and can never find it? It's because it got teleported to The Abys. (it does not work like the Backrooms, I will make that very clear.) Time also doesn't work in The Abys, meaning nothing ages or gets old. After losing contact, Veribosa just wandered around the infinitely empty void of The Abys. Months pass, years pass, and even decades pass. She gets so bored that she starts to forget more and more things about herself, including her name. As you might have clued onto, She eventually becomes Vivi, and gets freed by Bishop.

AND THAT'S EVERYBODY ON THE COVER-ART/ TITLE SCREEN! Thanks for reading. If you have any more questions, please feel free to contact me on Discord (nintendoboi12).

I have just noticed some errors that I need to fix, but didn't.
-For Elucid's original design, the mask was going to be her actual face, and is actually based off of the character Octavia from Helluva Boss.
-The marking, as mentioned in the paragraph about Oscar, is supposed to be a stab wound, implying I died by being stabbed with a knife.
-"murmured" in the paragraph about Corpse Doll's creation should actually read "murdered".
- Corpse Doll was originally called "The Night Mayor" implying his role in the story and being a play on the word "Nightmare." He would have a good guy counterpart, Dr. Eam (a play on the word Dream, as the opposite of a nightmare), but he was scrapped, leaving The Night Mayor, eventually renamed to the Corpse Doll.
- Veribosa's design is more or less a recoloring of Vivi, but with warm colors (ie red and yellow, rather than blue and purple on Vivi) and an evil grin.
